World AIDS Day 2011 takes place on Thursday 1st December.
World AIDS Day is a fantastic opportunity for people to unite and show the world that AIDS is still a huge global problem and that we still need to fight it.
Mildmay Hospital in Shoreditch, London has been part of that fight against AIDS since 1988. This year Shoreditch will show its support for their local HIV hospital, Mildmay, and make World AIDS Day 2011 a day to remember.
Mildmay is asking all local businesses to sell AIDS ribbons during the week before World AIDS Day. We will also be selling them in Shoreditch High Street Overground so that by the end of 1ST December everyone in Shoreditch will be wearing a ribbon and supporting people with HIV!
Then on Thursday 1st December we celebrate Ditch AIDS Day itself. Throughout the day and into the evening local businesses will raise money the best way they know how, with speed dating, mulled wine and wear a suit to work. We want to create a real community feel and make sure that Mildmay’s patients know that Shoreditch cares about them and others with HIV.
You can get involved in any way you like but if you’re short on ideas have a look at the selection on the next page or get in touch with us for even more ideas or help. Ideally all venues will hold some type of event, but if you really cannot then you can still be involved by having a ribbon box and collection tin.
